Canning has further success in Europe

John has just returned home after his most successful European Tournament in Vilamoura. This success earns him a place in the Masters Finals in Estoril early next year.

Peter Bothwell

Peter has now achieved a European ranking of 271 in the U14 category, although he is still only 12. The club has big hopes for him in the coming years and hopefully younger brother Sam will be close on his heels.

At the recent league dinner Downshire lifted the following honours:-

Boys U14 Division 3 & Challenge Trophy

Girls U14 Division 4

Girls U18 Challenge Trophy

Ladies Winter League Division 1

Ladies Winter League Division 3

Ladies Autumn League Division 2

 

Downshire win Elm Park Vets

A representative team from Downshire won the Elm Park, Dublin invitational veterans tournament in Oct 2007.

Downshire Players in Europe

John Canning continues to put in fine performances on the ITF Veteran circuit. John playing with Portuguese partner Joao Zilpao won the 55+ Doubles title at the Copa Iberia ITF Seniors Circuit Tournament in Vigo, Spain in July. The final was a tight affair with the No1 seeds just edging out their No 2 seeded Spanish opponents 6-2, 2-6, 10-8. ...Results
John is currently ranked 195 in the 55+ Singles ITF World Rankings and remains the top ranked Irish player in that category.

 

The Bothwell Boys have been traveling Europe with the Irish elite squad to a number of top ranked tournaments. Both boys have been putting in fine performances and are continuing to develop their skills.

Court Etiquette

When entering or leaving the club please have respect for players on court by diming your headlights.

If you are last to leave the premises please make sure that the clubhouse is secure (windows closed, lights off and doors locked) and that you lock the entrance gate behind you.
